LOL Swagilicious..or Swaglight. Twilight, why's your swaaaaaag levels so high? And a muffin is somewhere.
I LOVE how this comic came out. Paper to photoshop...love my method. First time drawing Vinyl and I gave her the red eyes cause people wouldn't shut up if I gave her the RD ones. Twilight's shades....I had a lot of fun making those. The background came out a alright....did I overkill it again? Trying to keep it show style afterall.
Anyway I got nothing else to say. Comic speaks for itself I think. I like these swag comics...maybe will do a 3rd...IDK. Comments and critiques as always help. Onto the next one!
Time spent: 24 hours over 5 days How I did it: Paper + Photoshop CS5
PLEASE don't steal this. Remember to link this back to me if you put this on a site or something.
Vision: Having the typical sort of one-upponyship being called on account of somepony cooler just walking along minding her own business is the sort of twist ending that never gets old.
Originality: Referencing the real-world behavior of Twilight's voice actress is a pretty good jumping-off point for the gag.
Technique: The artwork is such that it could conceivably have come from some sort of official magazine about the characters and the joke could have possibly appeared on the show itself.
Impact: The reaction of both characters to their being accidentally upstaged is the real payoff; while the humor is a little bit at their expense, it wasn't meant in a hurtful light.
That was genuinely hilarious, and definitely not done before. Although I think the beginning running meme of 20% Cooler was unneeded, it was a reference that wasn't too out of place for this comic.
Now, as I see in the last panel, Vinyl Scratch's right front-hoof is shaded in, even though part of the hoof would be highlighted by the sun. This can be easily overlooked, but it seemed like something I thought would be helpful. Also, I think we could have done with Twilight in only one shot, as we could probably assume that she walked past all the way.
Anyway, keep on doing these, and if anyone gives ya shite, buck 'em!
